HER STORY
The Martyrdom and Legacy of St. Dymphna
Saint Dymphna is a 7th-century Irish princess and the universally recognized patron saint of mental health in the Catholic and Orthodox Christian traditions. She fled to Geel, Belgium, to escape her father, whose grief-induced madness ultimately led to her martyrdom at age fifteen. Her tragic story transformed her into a symbol of hope and inspired Geel's centuries-old tradition of welcoming those with mental illnesses into their homes, pioneering humane psychiatric care and destigmatization.
OUR MISSION
Spiritual Empowerment for Your Mental Health Journey
Every path to mental wellness is unique, and no one should have to walk it alone. We provide a physical connection to St. Dymphna, the patroness of mental health, to support you on your journey. By mailing in a cherished item — like a rosary, a piece of jewelry, or a prayer card — we will gently touch it to our first-class relic. We’ll return your item to you as a third-class relic, giving you a lasting spiritual anchor and a source of comfort whenever you need it. We are located in Ohio, home to the National Shrine of St. Dymphna and the Maria Stein Shrine of the Holy Relics.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Spiritual Process
Q: What exactly is a sacred holy relic?
A: In the Catholic tradition, a first-class relic is a physical part of a saint (such as bone or hair). A second-class relic is an item they wore or used. A third-class relic is any item (such as a piece of jewelry, rosary, or cloth) that has been intentionally touched to a first-class or second-class relic. By touching your item to our first-class relic of St. Dymphna, it becomes a third-class relic, carrying her spiritual patronage.
Q: Are you selling relics?
A: No, the Catholic Church strictly prohibits the sale of holy relics (a practice known as simony). You are paying for the logistical service, the time it takes to facilitate the process, and shipping & handling. The spiritual blessing and the creation of the third-class relic are entirely free.
Q: Does the item I send have to be a religious object?
A: Not at all. While many people may choose to send rosaries, crucifixes, or prayer cards, you are welcome to send everyday items that hold personal significance, such as a favorite necklace, a wedding band, a watch, or a small keepsake. Our goal is to provide you with a tangible anchor of comfort that fits into your daily life.
Shipping & Safety
Q: How do I know my irreplaceable item will be safe?
A: We treat every item with the utmost reverence and care. Because we operate an independent storefront, we oversee every single package personally from the moment it arrives, to the moment it is shipped back out. We highly recommend purchasing a tracking number when you mail your item to us so you can monitor its journey. Once it leaves our hands to return to you, we will provide a secure return tracking number.
Q: What happens if my item gets lost in the mail?
A: While rare, mail carriers can sometimes experience delays or misplacements. This is why we require items to be shipped in padded mailers or boxes (never plain paper envelopes) and strongly urge you to purchase shipping insurance and tracking through your carrier. While we cannot take financial responsibility for errors made by the USPS, UPS, or FedEx, we will do everything in our power to help you track down a delayed package.
Turnaround & Logistics
Q: How long does the whole process take?
A: Once your package arrives at our mailbox, please allow 5 business days for us to process your order, carefully touch it to the relic, take photos, and sign your certificate of authenticity. After that, we will securely package it and mail it back to you. Standard return shipping typically takes an additional 5–10 days to reach your door.
Q: Will I be notified when my item arrives?
A: Yes! As soon as we physically receive and check in your package, we will send an email update to the address you provided at checkout. You will receive a second email containing your return tracking number the moment it is packed up to head home.
General
Q: Who operates St. Dymphna's Peace of Mind Relics?
A: My name is McKenzi Norris, M.S., and I am a religious history scholar, public health researcher, peer recovery supporter, and mental health advocate. I decided to open Peace of Mind Relics as a public service to help people in their time of need.
Q: Is your first-class relic authentic?
A: Yes. Pictured below is the relic's unbroken wax seal, which bears the emblem of the postulator general of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin. Moreover, the Maria Stein Shrine of the Holy Relics in Ohio has graciously inspected the relic and personally shared the associated authenticity document.
